Human Behaviour

Human behaviour refers to the range of behaviours exhibited by humans and influenced by culture, attitudes, emotions, values, ethics, authority, rapport, hypnosis, persuasion, coercion and/or genetics.   (Wikipedia)

Human Behaviour is determined by:

Genetics

Hormones

Biology

Biochemistry

brain

Research in Biopsychology, Neuroscience and Behavioural Genetics as well as Molecular Biology confirm the different influences of our Genetics, Hormones, Neurotransmitters and the various brain functions in the different parts of the brain in our unique behaviour.

In other words science shows the answer to: What makes us "tick"!

Biopsychology analyzes how the brain and neurotransmitters influence our behaviors, thoughts and feelings. It is a combination of basic psychology and neuroscience. Biopsychology is about how biological processes interact with emotions, cognitions and other mental processes.

It is important to have an understanding of biological processes, anatomy and physiology.

Behaviour is only observable. It is the way a child or person reacts to different situations. A persons behaviour can be affected by many things such as change of circumstance or even medical conditions.   (Wikipedia)

Karen Horney        Karen Horney (1885 - 1952) Behaviourist

Karen Horney classified 10 neurotic needs in humans:

01. need for affection and approval

02. need for a partner

03. need to restrict one's life to narrow borders

04. need for power, for control over others

05. need to exploit others and get the better of them

06. need for social recognition or prestige

07. need for personal admiration

08. need for personal achievement

09. need for self-sufficiency and independence

10. need for perfection and unassailability

As Horney investigated these neurotic needs, she began to recognize that they can be clustered into three broad coping strategies:

Compliance, which includes needs one, two, and three.

Aggression, including needs four through eight.

Withdrawal, including needs nine, ten, and three.

She added three here because it is crucial to the illusion of total independence and perfection that you limit the breadth of your life!

Our Personality-abc Communication Training System was invented and developed by Andreas Georg Rissler and is based on Karen Horneys three coping strategies. Her first "Compliance" is the Yellow personality which uses the Moving-toward strategy, her second "Aggression" is the Red personality which uses the Moving-against strategy and her third "Withdrawal" is the Blue personality which uses the Moving-away-from strategy.

YELLOW      the friendly, kind and easy going type (Compliance)

RED              the competitive, dominant and superior type (Aggression)

BLUE          -  the serious, objective and rational type (Withdrawal)
